Inspiration: Toronto Florists

When I was in Toronto this past summer I came across a few florists that I admire for their business philosophy and style, especially their sensibility of working with unusual and seasonal products.

First, I stumbled on Jaidens Petals, a florist on Ossington. It is a quaint shop and the owner celebrates working with her hands and living within her means. Here are some shop and flower pictures from her blog {I especially love her work bench!} ...

Second, Quince Flowers, which is located on the corner of Munro and Queen Street East. Here is how they describe their product selection: "Long before most people are up, we’re strolling the flower market, selecting the pick of the season. We talk to the vendors and collect what’s fresh and unusual. We love it when wild pickers bring their oversized wares to our shop: flowering branches, hardy foliage and knotted roots hauled in on the back of trucks." Here are some shop pictures of Quince Flowers ...

Lastly, Eco Stems, also located on Queen Street East, is focused on environment and social sustainability. Just one example - they are keen on offering flowers in exchange for used glassware, terracotta and pottery. Their blog offers a better glimpse into their sustainable practices. Here are some shop pictures of Eco Stems ...
