Remember my dilemma with not having enough space for a deep bathtub in our master bathroom. Well, after I figured out how to make it work (by replacing the adjacent bathroom's door by a pocket door and taking over 5 inches); I sat down and thought why all the hustle and bustle for a bathtub that is not going to be deeper than 17 inches? Unfortunately bathtubs start getting deeper after 6'. So I decided for a shower instead with a wooden bench to sit on and give myself my own pedicure. That's what we have right now anyway and it's worked pretty well. It'll only be a lot nicer. All these images are more than inspirational and even our bathroom won’t be lined in Onyx or in any of those one-of-a kind marbles that Kelly Wearstler seem to love; I'll let you know later what I'll use.

There are only a few other colors bolder than red. A little can go a long way and when used in high lacquered furniture it can always add such a chic factor into a room. There is so much color going on in fashion right now that it feels like everyone is getting more and more comfortable wearing them. I myself have my eyes on a pair of emerald green I spotted over the weekend and I think I'm going back for them this week.

Things are a little bit over my head right now, While in the process of finishing up the Golfer Flat, starting of a family's uptown apartment and now I'm about to start redoing our two bathrooms. Our master and Lucas', which also happens to be the guest bathroom. All these (our bathrooms) my hubby and I want it to be completed before Spring is over, right..., so we can enjoy the beautiful days without stress. Let's see if I can deliver.
For Lucas' bathroom I'm planning to install a one pedestal tub which I find more dynamic and appealing for a little boy than clawfoot ones. Now, for our master bath I'm needing, (do I really need it?) a soaking tub, but our bathroom is smaller or I shall say narrower than the other bathroom and because of the floor plans of both bathrooms (more on that later) I cannot remove any of the walls in order to be able to fulfill my need. But I'm determined to do it. My husband always tells me "why do you opt for difficult things?" I guess it's in my nature. Any suggestions as what I could do?

Seeing is believing

Design process is better done in layers. Can you tell this room's walls are wallpapered? I didn't, until I saw the close-up of the below picture. Having a vision when decorating is what a professional starts with but for whoever is not a professional is better doing it slowly. Stepping back and seeing one layer (paint, wallpaper, etc) and imagining what the next piece to come will look like is easier and a more assuring way of doing it without making mistakes that can be costly. I've been decorating my home slowly. I think the best way of doing it is while you're living in the house and realizing slowly what you need in the process. Even professionals change their minds in the process after seeing that something is not working. A few months ago I had the back of a sofa upholstered in a graphic fabric (the back of the sofa is one of the first things you see when walking into our house), after seeing it I realized that a patterned curtain will be too conflicting. It called for plain fabric curtains. I can visualize this room above empty with only the wallpaper installed and quickly figure out that it needed a graphic sculptural bed that would not be too bulky and clumsy and that would still carry on the soft and feminine atmosphere.

Can you imagine this bathroom without the polka dotted wallpaper? Sometimes a bold move makes a big difference in a white room.

I realized today, that I have yet to show y'all the bathroom off our basement cafe':

I find most of mine at yard sales or thrift stores
They give a home that cozy, lived-in feeling.

The antique corner shelf was given to me by a sweet friend.
The home made shower curtain came from Good Will, I think it was $6-ish.
I gave it to a friend who liked it, and it didn't work in her home, so she gave it back.
I am so glad!
I used clip/hooks to hang it on the lip of the top of the shower.
(The fabric is "Pen Pal" by Waverly).
