Estefanía Carrero at Home

Last week when I posted about my mirrored wall I received a few emails from friends and readers who loved one of the images I had posted (first one below) Today, I think it will be fun to talk a little bit about the house. This is the Madrileña-home of the Interior Designer Estefania Carrero and Antiquarian Alejandro Fauquié. They broke down a few walls to let in natural light and filled up the space with vintage pieces from the 40's and 70's. Some of the pieces are designed by Estefania & Alegandro themselves. The entire floor is covered with seagrass carpet which unifies all in the apartment, making the overall atmosphere of glamor and sophistication look more natural and casual.

Lovely Floors & Getting over a cold

I've been very slow on posting lately due to be fighting a very bad cold. Everyone in this house seem to not getting completely over it but inspiration is always there. And I can't help to get inspired by these lovely floors.

Meet Lorenzo Castillo

Lorenzo Castillo is an Interior Designer and a Antiquarian who has transformed a 19th century mansion in Madrid into his home and work space. The mansion used to belong to Count of Torrijos and Lorenzo fell in love with the impressive details of this old mansion and I don't blame him. I can imagine the beauty of its architecture, something that cannot be well appreciated in these images. All different kinds of antiques such as art deco, regency, a little bit of Chinoiserie and vintage pieces can be seen in every room coexisting together in great harmony.

Classically Contemporary

I came across this Atico Madrileno (usually the top floor apartment with a roof terrace) yesterday while browsing Nuevo Estilo. This apartment surrounded by an indoor patio was renovated by Interior Decorator Pedro Rubio, unfortunately he doesn't have a website to get lost in. The home owners who are frequent travelers asked for a dynamic home where they could enjoy different seating areas, bring in family pieces and display their travel collection. The result was a mixture of different styles and characters using classic and modern furniture with exotic African elements and central Asian textile (suzani). One of my favorite elements on Spanian Interiors is how they enhance or improve the architecture of rooms by incorporating such elements as modern panelings, lacquered walls, geometric painted floors and graphic sliding doors making rooms look more dynamic and interesting.

The cozy yet sophisticated library and family room. Those bookcases and those Amalfi Coast chairs really make the room.

The mirrored fireplace-wall contrasts with the adjacent modern paneling. Love how the use of the round cocktail table facilitates the flow.

The Wiggle Stool by Frank Gehry seems to blend in effortlessly with the tones of browns and grays in the living room.

The kitchen table used to be an ironing table and its now, together with the head fixture the focal point of the room.

The graphic sliding doors contrast the modern wood paneling. A modern architectural enhancing element that's easy to replicate.

I love seeing examples of small bathrooms that are both functional and beautiful.

A crisp and modern home

The chic and elegant color scheme in this modern flat makes me imagine a modern Audrey Hepburn living in the 21st century. The use of black and white with splashes of green, purple, red and blue give it such a feminine and fine atmosphere.

I can picture a modern and hectic family with children in this eat-in kitchen.

Don't you love the black and white striped bed with the contrasting red curtains?

The mirrored doors on the closets create illusion of a bigger space.

A house full of personality

My favorite rooms in this house are the bathroom and breakfast area, although I wouldn't mind living in all of the others as well.
