Love this Spring/Summer 2011 Marimekko fashion show at what looks to be a flower auction ...

Inspiration: Spring is nearly here, and some deeper thoughts on flowers ...

A beautiful spring colour palette from studio choo ...

"When you are are buying flowers, what exactly are you buying?" This is a beautifully haunting video. I reminds me of how privileged I am to work with flowers, but saddened by the industry itself ... It is always nice to see small glimpses of floral farms and the real people who grow this faceless commodity. It is imperative that we acknowledge and learn to celebrate the seasons and what comes with these seasons, the imperfections and natural characteristics of flowers, and the people, sometimes generations of families, who pour their heart and soul into growing them ...

Etsy Love: Oldies But Goodies

I'm so pleased with my latest Treasury that I cannot help but share it here.  How I wish I can buy all of these old goodies for myself, particularly the antique Peugeot wood coffee mill and the vintage stainless steel teapot which I think can double as a coffee brewer too! The white porcelain coffee set is  exactly what I want and the retro wire basket is such a fun and functional piece I'd love in my kitchen. To see each seller and the details of each item, please click here .

Contemporary Dance Interpretation: "Jar Of Hearts"

One of my favorite tv programs to watch is 'So You Think You Can Dance'.  Have you seen this contemporary number by Billy Bell and Kathryn McCormick?  Yes, that background music is touching.  The song is by indie artist, Christina Perri.  Today, I've read in the news that "Jars Of Hearts" has made it on top of Billboard charts after that dance number, choreographed by Stacey Tookey. It was Kelti Collen, who handed the demo to Stacey.

i know i can’t take one more step towards you
cause all thats waiting is regret
don’t you know i’m not your ghost anymore
you lost the love i loved the most

i learned to live, half alive
and now you want me one more time

who do you think you are?
runnin’ ’round leaving scars
collecting a jar of hearts
tearing love apart
you’re gonna catch a cold
from the ice inside your soul
don’t come back for me
who do you think you are?

i hear you’re asking all around
if i am anywhere to be found
but i have grown too strong
to ever fall back in your arms

ive learned to live, half alive
and now you want me one more time

who do you think you are?
runnin’ ’round leaving scars
collecting a jar of hearts
and tearing love apart
you’re gonna catch a cold
from the ice inside your soul
don’t come back for me
who do you think you are?

it took so long just to feel alright
remember how to put back the light in my eyes
i wish i had missed the first time that we kissed
cause you broke all your promises
and now you’re back
you don’t get to get me back

who do you think you are?
running around leaving scars
collecting a jar of hearts
and tearing love apart
you’re gonna catch a cold
from the ice inside your soul
so don’t come back for me
dont come back at all

who do you think you are?
who do you think you are?
who do you think you are?

I love the lampshades of LUSH DESIGNS. Watch the video below of Marie and Maria talking about their work...I love these ladies!

Garden of delight is MARIEKE VAN DER BRUGGEN's graduation project (2008)

Imagine a world where nothing is what it is...
A world that stimulates your fantasy and let you taste the sweetness of paradise.

Garden of delight is an inverted nature element of candy that spawns, like a sculpture, from the ceiling. This object exist of abstract branches, twigs and leaves in different colours and tastes that can be picked and eaten.

Garden of delight is an event on it’s own in a shop, gallery, restaurant. The consumer feels like Eve in paradise when they pick a leave.

BEATRIZ MARTIN VIDAL's portraiture work is amazing, especially birdchildren. Shown below is one of her works.

I want to share this video by Liron Kroll. It reminds me of my vanitas series. The video was Kroll's final project of her degree in communication arts. The video done entirely using scanned images, and similar themes of femininity found in my series, beautiful!

You and I Both Loved. . .

 YOU and I
Jason Mraz

Was it you who spoke the words that things would happen but not to me
Oh things are gonna happen naturally
Oh I'm taking your advice and I'm looking on the bright side
And I'm balancing the whole thing
But in often times those words get tangled up in lines
And the bright lights turns to night
Oh, Until the dawn it brings
Another day will sing about the magic that was you and me

Cause you and I both loved
What you and I spoke of
And others just read of
Others only dream of the love, the love that I love

See I'm all about them words
Over numbers, unencumbered numbered words
Hundreds of pages, pages, pages for words
More words then I had ever heard and I feel so alive

Cause you and I both loved
What you and I spoke of
And others just read of
And if you could see me now, well, I'm almost out of

You and I, you and I
Not so little you and I anymore
And with this silence brings a moral story
More importantly evolving is the glory of a boy

Cause you and I both loved
What you and I spoke of
And others just read of
And if you could see me now
Well I'm almost finally out of
I'm finally out of
Finally deedeedeedee
Well I'm almost finally, finally
Well I am free, oh, and that's me

And it's okay if you have go away
Oh just remember the telephone, well, they work in both ways
And the more you follow you through
there's always more left over
Not too much explaining to do
And if ever, ever, ever you'll find your love
I will be your lifeline
I will never miss a phone call
But if I never, never, never ever hear them ring

If nothing else I'll think the bells inside
Have finally found you someone else and that's okay
Cause I'll remember everything you sang

Cause you and I both loved what you and I spoke of
and others just read of and if you could see now
well I'm almost finally out of.
I'm finally out of, finally, deedeeededede
well I'm almost finally, finally, finally out of words.

I like this landscaping, found on Canada Blooms.

I first discovered designer Jeff Leatham a couple years ago when he was resident florist for Hotel George V in Paris prior to staring in his own show flowers: uncut.

Watch this video of him and his floral designs at the Hotel George V.

Brandi Carlile Fall Concert Tour Series

It's another day when I wish that airplane tickets doesn't cost like a year/s-worth-of-salary. Oh, how I wish I could see one of Brandi Carlile's gig. She's going on a Fall Concert Tour Series across the US. If you live near, click here to enter the contest and win free tickets to the show. Runners-up will win a copy of her latest album "Give Up the Ghost".

All of these lines across my face
Tell you the story of who I am
So many stories of where I've been
And how I got to where I am
But these stories don't mean anything
When you've got no one to tell them to
It's true...I was made for you
I climbed across the mountain tops
Swam all across the ocean blue
I crossed all the lines and I broke all the rules
But baby I broke them all for you
Because even when I was flat broke
You made me feel like a million bucks
You do
I was made for you
You see the smile that's on my mouth
It's hiding the words that don't come out
And all of my friends who think that I'm blessed
They don't know my head is a mess
No, they don't know who I really am
And they don't know what
I've been through like you do
And I was made for you...
All of these lines across my face
Tell you the story of who I am
So many stories of where I've been
And how I got to where I am
But these stories don't mean anything
When you've got no one to tell them to
It's true...I was made for you

We Spoon Like No One Else. . .

Ingrid Michaelson will have a free show, full band acoustic,12 pm Fingerprints Music, Long Beach on Sun. Oct 4.

don't you worry, there my honey
we might not have any money
but we've got our love to pay the bills

maybe I think you're cute and funny,
maybe I wanna do what bunnies do with you,
if you know what I mean

Oh, let's get rich and buy our parents homes in the South of France
let's get rich and give everybody nice sweaters
and teach them how to dance
let's get rich and build our house on a mountain
making everybody look like ants
from way up there, you and I, you and I

well you might be a bit confused
and you might be a little bit bruised
but baby how we spoon like no one else
so I will help you read those books
if you will soothe my worried looks
and we will put the lonesome on the shelf

oh let’s get rich and buy our parents homes in the South of France
let's get rich and give everybody nice sweaters
and teach them how to dance
let's get rich and build our house on a mountain
making everybody look like ants
from way up there you and I, you and I

oh, let’s get rich and buy our parents homes in the south of France
let's get rich and give everybody nice sweaters
and teach them how to dance
let's get rich and build our house on a mountain
making everybody look like ants
from way up there you and I, you and I,

This is another video which I found from Jacqueline Pfeffer's blog that I'd like to share. It's a beautiful story of two people who met and fell in love (literally) from a distance.
